Understanding Learning for First Years: How to Become a Successful Student
Additional Assessment Component (AAC) Skills Workshop
The AAC is a new assessment component within the Leaving Certificate that reflects the skills and competencies identified by the Department of Education as essential for student development. Its purpose is to support students in building confidence and competence in key skill areas, recognising that many learners need structured time and guidance to develop these abilities rather than being expected to already have them.
LCA Workshop
This workshop gives students a practical introduction to LCA-style learning, focusing on real-life skills they will use in school, work and everyday life. Through interactive activities and group tasks, students build confidence, communication and teamwork skills in a supportive setting. The session helps students understand what LCA is about while creating work they can use for their portfolio and future assessments.
Building Your Personal Portfolio
Building Your Personal Portfolio is a reflective workshop for Transition Year students. In this 2.5-hour interactive workshop, they will reflect on their (natural) individual and learning strengths and how they can use Transition Year as an opportunity to build a comprehensive portfolio of projects and experiences tailored to their unique abilities and future goals.
