We constantly hear from students (and teachers) that their smart phone is
one of the major distractions and obstacles when it comes to attention.
This Workshop will address this problem.
This student workshop explores the role of smartphones in modern life, encouraging a balanced and mindful approach rather than an “anti-phone” stance. Students will gain insight into what constitutes healthy versus excessive phone use, supported by research on phone addiction and its effects on the brain. The session highlights how constant scrolling can impact focus and decision-making, while practical activities demonstrate how multitasking with phones can reduce productivity. Students will also learn strategies to break unhelpful habits using proven behavioural techniques and be introduced to simple focus-building practices, such as meditation, to support concentration, reduce distraction, and enhance learning.
