Make Every Week Count!

Feb 21
Mocks have been on everyone’s mind, and now that they’re behind us, it’s time to shift gears.

I know we’re all just settling back from midterm, but time is of the essence. The state exams in June are getting closer, and every week between now and then matters.

This is the moment to reset, refocus, and build a strategy for success. It’s easy for students to lose momentum after the mocks, but now is not the time to slow down—it’s time to push forward with purpose. The key? A solid study plan, the right techniques, and a consistent routine.

Motivating Students

Motivating students is not an easy task, especially if they are burnt-out, disinterested, or lacking self-esteem. So, what steps can you take to motivate your student?

Give Students Ownership – While it's not realistic to create a study plan for every student, spending just 10 minutes of class time for students to assess their weak areas can be extremely beneficial. Encouraging them to reflect on the topics they need to focus on will help them take charge of their learning.

Use the Poker System – Our Poker System helps students balance all subjects and prioritize topics that need attention. Introduce them to this technique and encourage its use to create a more structured and effective study plan.

Make Class Tests Less Stressful – Pop quizzes don't have to be another source of stress. Instead, they can be a fun and engaging way to reinforce learning. Consider quick quizzes on essential definitions and concepts, with a small prize for the winner. This makes studying interactive, keeps students accountable, and builds a positive association with your class.

Offer Words of Encouragement – Feedback is crucial, but so is positive reinforcement. When providing feedback, always acknowledge the effort students put in, highlight their potential, and remind them that their hard work is noticed and appreciated.
Everyone needs a cheerleader!
